In Memory of...

Of all the myriad ways of honoring the memory of a loved one, now departed, this one might be my favorite!  Of course, I have Madame Pinterest to thank for it.  I'd never have come up with the idea on my own.  I don't think.

So after my dad passed away last year, I asked my mom for his plaid shirts.  But anything that was still wearable had already been donated to the care home where he spent the last 7 months of his life, so that was that I thought.

Recently though, she discovered a large bag of his summer shirts that were stored....waiting for....yes, summer!  And there were exactly the right number of them!  One for each of his grandchildren.

Most of them I turned into pillows, complete with existing pocket for kleenex, remote, notes, whatever, but 2 I turned into aprons.  SO dang cute I can't stand it.

What I particularly love, is that when I filled them (with pillows that aren't actually meant to fit them) they made the button pull a little, just like always happened when my dad wore them himself!

Oh and bee tea dubs?  That recipe written on the chalk painted wall is for the Olive Garden salad dressing.

You're welcome.

Coloring for Adults....

Speaking for myself at least, I'm glad the coloring trend has grown to where it's socially acceptable for an adult to open a new box of crayons and inhale deeply and nostalgically.  To mess with paints and brushes and not care who's watching, or how good we're coloring.  In short, to PLAY again like we did when we were 8.
And I'm also glad for the variety of choices of coloring books, designs and paper available for grown up coloring.  Prima though.  Prima has created my favorite coloring books, water color pencils and paints to date.  The quality is just...well, I got no complaints!
Here's just a sampling of what I created after a few mindlessly happy hours of coloring with watercolor pencils and then going back and painting with a water brush.

Gold. Also, handlettering.

Hi friends!  Today I'm sharing, just SOME of the gold fever that has hit me this fall!  I've been designing card fronts for sale and home foiling and here are a few samples of that.
As well, I've tried my hand at some hand lettering that I've digitized for printing on card fronts and full sized, suitable for framing prints.

Some of the cards have been designed to be printed on watercolor paper in order to combine foiling AND watercolor painting!  Does it get any better than that??

Cards for any and all occasions.  And they're all available in the Love is in the Details store.

But it wasn't enough to foil on paper.  Oh no.  I had to give foiling on fabric a try too!
Heat foiling on little muslin bags....and liquid adhesive foiling with stencils on fabric pillow forms.  All the details can be found here, here and here at Love is in the Details where I've previously posted these.
